The Web Poetry Corner - Laramie Lee Roecker - Grampa Lange
Grampa Lange
by
Laramie Lee Roecker
There he sits,
Opposite me,
With his back against
An old oak tree.
Some brush hides him
Slightly from view.
I know he's there,
But how could you?
He is undetectable--
Impossible to see--
Especially to
The tom turkey.
Grampa took me hunting,
Fishing sometimes, too.
He gave me all his knowledge
Be it old or be it new.
He took me to the cabin
On the Fourth of July,
And once to the Wisconsin River
Where I caught my first walleye.
His gifts are nothing but priceless.
His love, simply true.
No wonder he will live forever,
In both me and in you.
