The Web Poetry Corner - Kenneth R. Bays - Tears Of A Child

Tears Of A Child

by

Kenneth R. Bays

As I was sitting by a window on a bright sunny day,
I noticed a bunch of children all gathered outside to play.
They were hopping, skipping and jumping and having so much fun,
They were all happy playing, that is all except one.
The one that I noticed was standing by his self.
He looked so small and innocent, just like a little elf.
I went outside to talk to him, to see what was wrong,
He told me in his little voice that his mommy was gone.
I could see the sorrow and sadness through the tears in his eyes,
As he asked me if his mommy was up there in the sky.
I told him that she was and she was happy as could be,
And that she didn't want him to be so sad and unhappy.
I told him as I looked at him, with a slight grin,
That he would someday meet his mommy once again.
As he looked at me with his big blue eyes I saw his tears were gone,
He said, thank you mister for telling me, now I can go on.
As he walked away from me I began to cry,
Because his mommy as an angel was standing by his side.
