What I Know

I want to disappear

into non-existence

for just one millisecond of my life

so that I can regain some semblance

of just what it is that keeps me here

I have other options
I have other choices and demands
I know that I cannot make the same mistakes

as I have in the past,

that I have learned something along the way

More than anything I know what steps

I have to take to reach my destined paths_

those which are in the future,

those which I have set myself up for
But I can’t say for sure that I know

where to go next,

where to start from here,

which road will eventually lead me

to those which connect me to

where I want to be

So for just a split second I’d like

to fall off the face of this Earth,

get lost in some underground cave

or drive to Mexico

just so that I can step away,

stand aside,

from what I can see and what I know.
