The Web Poetry Corner - Katherine Tildes - Water as a metaphor

Water as a metaphor

by

Katherine Tildes

Trying to keep my head above
the water in the pool
beneath me which is swirling
and getting blacker the more
I think

My thoughts poison the
the water I drink
and I can’t seem to find the antidote

But I know on the other side of
the bottomless pit that is my sorrow
there is a crystal clear lake
that is happiness
if I can just get to it.
