The Web Poetry Corner - Katherine Tildes - Should Have Known Better

Should Have Known Better

by

Katherine Tildes

I should have known better than
to try to let you in back in again
to try to make it work
because, honey, we obviously can’t
We fight, pick, argue until one or both
are seeing red and unable to let go

I should have known better than to
let my guard down again
give you the keys
because every time it’s the same old
story over and over again

When are we gonna see this clearly
When are we gonna realize that
you and me,
we just don’t work
I should have known better this time.

Why don't you look at Growing Pains
