Love & Hate

I hate you because
you think you know
who I am
and you assume too
much of me
and you use me for
what you believe to be okay

I hate you because you don’t
understand what it’s like
to be me,
in my clothes,
in my shoes,
in my skin
and yet you think you know
what is good for me,
what is best

I hate you because
you think I hate you
and that no loves lies
within me for you
but what you don’t
understand is
that with hate comes love
and I love you more
for the things you do
to make me hate
