ik had een roos willen zijn

als het leven
mij inhaalt door
stervende pijnen
als mijn vreugde
slechts loopt langs
zeldzame lijnen

indien verwachting
en hoop
het afleggen tegen
wat onhaalbaar is
dan sta ik zo alleen
weet niet meer wat te doen
mijn hart verstart tot steen

ik had zo graag
naar anderen willen bloeien
meer dan mij werd gegund
in een tuin vol rozen
te schitteren in de zon
had ik dat nog maar gekund

het mocht niet zo zijn
het einde had zich
steeds meer op mij gericht
soms mag men dan zeggen
ik ben voor de dood gezwicht
