~~REGINALD HEBER~~
English Bishop, Poet
and writer of famous hymns.
Born in Cheshire 1783
Died at Trichy, Tamil 1826.

Received Degree of D.D. from
Oxford. Took Holy Orders,
toured Europe. He married
Amelia Shipley, subsequently
becoming Preacher at Lincoln's
Inn; he sailed to India and
was Bishop of Calcutta City.
Reginald Heber's hymn-writing
brought much fame, spreading
the word of Christianity...
sadly, whilst in India, he
suffered a fit from which he
died.

Heber's hymna are well-known
thro' the world:
From Greenland's Icy Mountains
God that madest earth and heaven
Holy, holy, holy.
And many many more.
Poetical works collected 1841
Amelia Shipley wrote on his life.

Here I quote the first verse
of a famous hymn - written for
Trinity Sunday 1826 by the
wonderful Reginald Heber:...

Holy, holy, holy! Lord God
Almighty!
Early in the morning our song
shall rise to Thee;
Holy, holy, holy, merciful and
mighty!
God in three Persons, blessed
Trinity!

REGINALD HEBER
