Neville Chamberlain

Series of famous British names:
NEVILLE CHAMBERLAIN
Conservative Statesman.
Born in England 1869
Died in England 1940.
Educated at Rugby School
and Mason College,Birmingham.
At the end of his life,
he became Prime Minister.
We remember Neville Chamberlain
for his great efforts, in 1938,
to liaise with Adolf Hitler, on
the Munich Agreement; as a result
Chamberlain signed his name, and
then told the British people that
peace would reign; Britons rejoiced
to think war would not be, but
alas, he'd been misled. Britain was
forced to fight Hitler's hostility,
and within months, the Second World
War began.
Neville (Arthur) Chamberlain gave
many years to public life - Lord
Mayor of Birmingham, twice Minister
of Health, twice Chancellor, and
became Prime Minister just three
years prior to his death. Winston
Churchill followed on as Prime
Minister in the Second World War.
I have found it a great pleasure
to write this brief story, on a
very great politician - I have not
mentioned his private life; must
catch up on my reading.
