FRANCES HODGSON BURNETT
English author of books and plays.
Born in Manchester eighteen forty-nine
Died in New York nineteen twenty-four
She married England's Dr. Burnett...
Famous for her many novels, forty in all,
including Secret Garden, Sara Crew,
A Little Princess, Louisiana, and of
course, the well known children's novel
Little Lord Fauntleroy. This story was
about a young boy, who dressed in velvet
suit with collar of lace. The book caught
on and the fashion stayed for many years.
Although Frances had a house in America,
she spent many of her last years here in
England; her son wrote a biography 1927.
