Educated in England, Alfred
Hitchcock became Director of
Motion Pictures in 1925. He
directed many many movies over
his lifetime - referred to as
Master of Suspense, making
nine silent and fifteen sound
pictures in England 1927-1939,
at which date he went to America
and continued with a further
thirty-two sound films, plus
Television. At the age of
fifty-six he became a
US Citizen.
He directed the successful
Blackmail - The Man Who Knew
Too Much - Thirty-nine steps -
The Lady Vanishes; and continued
in America with Rebecca 1940
(Academy Award)- Dial for Murder
Spellbound - Vertigo - Pscho -
The Birds, by Daphne Du Maurier,
and Frenzy, to name a few!
Alfred Hitchcock made many
quotable remarks such as:
"I'm a philanthropist. I give
people what they want. People
love being horrified - terrified."
So there it is, brief encounter
into the very full career of the
great genius Sir Alfred Hitchcock.
I have not delved into his
private life. His legacy will be
entertaining us for years to come.
And we honour his name.
