Series of famous
British names:
Great English Artist
Landscape Painter,
JOHN CONSTABLE
born in East Bergholt,
Suffolk, England
seventeen seventy-six.
Died in London, buried
at Hampstead in
eighteen thirty-seven.
His father, a wealthy
businessman.
John married "Maria"
and became the father
of seven children.
He studied art at the
Royal Academy, London;
painted many religious
pictures.
His "oil on canvas"
The Haywain, created a
sensation, after being
exhibited in Paris. I have
a copy of this picture on
the wall of my own home.
His work brought a sense of
warmth or of coolness,
whichever weather he was
portraying...to mention
but a few of Constable
masterpieces :
Flatford Mill, Stratford Mill,
The Cornfield, Dedham Vale,
Salisbury Cathedral, and
so many others, all superb.
John Constable, the great
artist, often paired with
Turner. His pictures
will continue to bring
pleasure, reminding us
of a great British name
from history.
