The Web Poetry Corner - Joyce Hemsley - Christina Georgina Rossetti

Christina Georgina Rossetti

by

Joyce Hemsley

Series of famous British names.

In summer's ember, we will
remember Poetess
CHRISTINA GEORGINA ROSSETTI
whose tenderness captured the
nineteenth century.
Born eighteen-thirty, London
Died eighteen ninety-four, London.

But "Sing No Sad Songs."

In her poems, she died twice,
or was it thrice? - scenting the
cool air of paradise. But sing
no sad love songs for Christina.
Her own voice will sing of
frustrated love, from the faraway
land, up above. In that land she
will meet her brother, poet Dante
Gabriel...over her lifetime she
wrote many poems, among
them were:
Goblin Market
Prince's Progress
Annus Domini
A Pageant
and more "lovely" verses.
I have included her name in my
bio, as favourite poet.

In summer's ember, we will
remember Poetess
Christina Georgina Rossetti;

But "Sing No Sad Songs."
