Series of famous British names:
Morris Motors Industrialist
Viscount Baron
WILLIAM RICHARD MORRIS NUFFIELD
born in Worcestershire
eighteen seventy-seven
died nineteen sixty-three.
Son of a farm labourer, his success
story began with a humble cycle repair
business, leading eventually to the
forming of MORRIS MOTORS LIMITED
and in nineteen twenty, the Morris
Cowley was the best-selling car in
Britain. (The first car I ever owned
was a black Morris Minor). Thirty years
later, MORRIS & AUSTIN merged, becoming
part of British Leyland. WILLIAM MORRIS
was made Viscount...he was the founder
of a motor car empire and gave millions
of pounds to Medical Research.
As founder of Nuffield College and the
Nuffield Foundation. Lord Nuffield was
a well thought of British Businessman.
And the names "Morris" and "Nuffield"
will live on forever.
