Englishman of many parts
LEWIS CARROLL
popular and well-quoted;
renowned worldwide for
his children's stories,
Alice in Wonderland, Alice
through the Looking Glass
and What Alice found There.
He was also one-time
lecturer in mathematics
at Oxford, and wrote books
on the subject.
LEWIS CARROLL was a Poet
and in eighteen seventy-six
came his "nonsense" poem,
The Hunting of The Snark...
a masterpiece of fantasy
with magical words and
images, and cute humour.
He befriended Tennyson and
Ruskin, who shared his great
interest in photography, and
Carroll was to be a pioneer
of Portrait Photography.
LEWIS CARROLL'S pen-name
is Charles Lutwidge Dodson,
born in Cheshire in the year
eighteen thirty-two, died
eighteen ninety-eight.
