by

Joyce Hemsley

Series of famous
British names:

British Astronomer
SIR WILLIAM HERSCELL
born 1738 died 1822.

Sir William left Hanover
and settled in England
as a Musician, but his
heart was in the magic of
astronomy, and he discovered
URANUS and many of its
satellites. As Astronomer
to George III, he wrote
"Motion of The Solar System
in Space"...constructed a
massive telescope and
discovered infra-red solar
rays - year eighteen hundred.

SIR JOHN FREDERICK WILLIAM
HERSCHEL, William's son,
discovered double stars,
clusters and nebulae and also
invented astronomical aids.
He died eighteen seventy-one.

Two great men of history.
The archcives will record their
valuable accomplishments, and
the world will remember and
give thanks evermore.
