The Web Poetry Corner - Joyce Hemsley - Wedding Ring

Wedding Ring

by

Joyce Hemsley

My heart was gay in early spring,
as joyful birds began to sing,
when blossom was on the cherry tree,
and tulips bloomed with dignity.

As springtime turned to summertime,
and dancing flowers were in their prime,
we used to walk - my love and I,
to where the water-lilies lie.

Young newly-weds, demure and shy,
with sun-bronzed faced, passed us by,
Oh summer, you meant everything
to me who wore a wedding ring.
