Sweet Moments

The rustic gate that parts the fields
still stands until this day,
although a little older now
than when we passed its way.

I recall sweet moments of romance
as we both gazed across the bay
swinging on the old rustic gate
and idling our time away.

We knew the excitement of first love
when joy was all we could see
when all of my thoughts were only for you
and your heart-beats were only for me.

But now I am left with only a dream
of that old-fashioned rendezvous
recalling the thrill of blossoming love
and sweet moments spent with you.
