The Web Poetry Corner - Joyce Hemsley - Special Way
Special Way
by
Joyce Hemsley
One bright and sunny morning
in the bustle of the day,
the mailman called and the
Heavens roared, as she smiled
in that special way...
She cheerfully opened an
envelope, and there to her
surprise, a cheque was found
for thousands of pounds,
a precious and coveted prize.
Thoughts of giving entered
her mind; thoughts of the
dying and blind, and cash she
assigned to the poor and
deprived, there was never a
lassie so kind. When her
giving was done, the gift
she had won had flown like
the blossom in May; but her
heart was so light and her
wings they took flight, as
she smiled in that
'special way'.
