The Web Poetry Corner - Joyce Hemsley - Spare a Dime
Spare a Dime
by
Joyce Hemsley
The man in black roams everywhere,
down country lane and thoroughfare.
He wears a painted trilby hat
to match his overcoat of black.
He can be seen in rain or shine
looking ahead - never behind!
Singing and humming the same old song,
as he wearily creeps along.
Sneakers are repaired with glue.
He has no friend or partner true.
For years he has worn that trilby hat;
so do spare a dime for a man in black.
