The Web Poetry Corner - Joyce Hemsley - Sad Melody

Sad Melody

by

Joyce Hemsley

Gone are the days when we walked in the woodland
Gone is the smile that cheered my poor heart,
Never more will I be travelling with thee,
Days are so different now we are apart.

Gone is the laughter, the joy and the gladness,
Sweet words that linger, so deep in my heart,
Your memory I see as a sad melody, that fills
me with longing for days of the past...

But your dear children are with me,
They cling to me still -
Through sunshine and autumn,
and the cold winter's chill.
