The Web Poetry Corner - Joyce Hemsley - My Dilemma

My Dilemma

by

Joyce Hemsley

Should I offer a mellow coffee
or a cup of fine Indian tea ?
Friends are in need of refreshment
to calm stress and anxiety.

They may prefer a fizzy lime-juice
or a glass of cool ginger ale,
followed by raspberry pavlova,
treats that could never fail.

Milk-shake, with a straw, is
my personal choice
at this sultry time of the day, but if
I suggest milk-shake to my friends,
they could turn their heads away!

My dilemma is finally over,
I am serving a chilled Chardonnay
poured into beautiful goblets
with vol-au-vent on a silver tray.
