The Web Poetry Corner - Joyce Hemsley - Life is a dream
Life is a dream
by
Joyce Hemsley
I could live three lifetimes over
Walk in beauty, as an August moon
Sail the seas in a luxury liner
And have fun from morn until noon.
But never am I more happy
Than when I sit all cosy and grand
In the comfort of my old rocking-chair
With my pen held in my right hand.
Resting and thinking and pondering
On those glorious moments gone by
As I write my poems onto paper
With - maybe - a tear in my eye.
Yes! I'm happy at each new daybreak
And happy when evening draws near
Re-living an album of memories
Golden summers, I hold so dear.
With Perry Como in song beside me
And Bacharach well in the queue -
Life is a sweet melodious dream
Not only for me; but for you.
