The Web Poetry Corner - Joyce Hemsley - Last long Hour

Last long Hour

by

Joyce Hemsley

It was late autumn; he was dying,
His lovely wife secretly crying.
She sat with him and tended him
Spent the last long hour with him,
And these words she heard him say:

"Fall into my arms
and die with me -
there is no-one else
in the world like thee.
Ascend to the highest
Heaven with me, and
I'll live again
Together with thee."
