Homeward Bound
by
Joyce Hemsley
The sun scorched the pathway beneath my tired feet.
I had walked for ten miles, in the sultry midday heat.
When I came to the river, I rested a while as
the journey would continue for many a mile.
I immersed my aching limbs in the cool flowing stream,
and my pain disappeared like the pain in a dream.
So I went on my way, and such peace I had found.
I reached the end of my story...homeward bound!
