The Web Poetry Corner - Joyce Hemsley - Fifty Summers

Fifty Summers

by

Joyce Hemsley

He ran down fifty steps to ask
if she would dance and take his arm,
and fifty love-songs he composed
about her beauty and her charm.

He travelled fifty miles of highway
to be near her - at her side,
and gave her fifty loving kisses
then asked if she would be his bride.

His love for her would last forever,
fifty summers and fifty springs;
they were both meant for each other
and fifty wedding bells would ring.
