The Web Poetry Corner - Joyce Hemsley - Divine Golden Gate

Divine Golden Gate

by

Joyce Hemsley

In memory of my twin brother.

Teardrops fall from my sad eyes
As the memory of you never dies.
I could not say 'goodbye my twin',
So please forgive this guilt within.

Although we lived so far apart,
You were forever in my heart.
And the joy I felt each time we met
Was a feeling I remember yet.

Late in September we were born;
Close together, in the early morn.
Sweet souvenirs of our childhood days
will live within my heart always.

We grew together, Joyce and John;
Now you have died, and I live on.
But as flowers adorn your resting place,
My eyes still see your handsome face.

We will meet again, if we patiently wait -
Through the Portal of Heaven,
The Divine Golden Gate.
