The Web Poetry Corner - Joyce Hemsley - Days of Innocence

Days of Innocence

by

Joyce Hemsley

Through leafy woodland we wandered
when we were young one day,
among the purple columbine
which grows in wild array.

Walking past hedges of roses,
breezes caressing your hair,
the sweet scent of lavender lingered
across the afternoon air.

We sat in the shade of the maple,
and enjoyed a country cream-tea...
oh these were the days of innocence
when we knew not our destiny!
