The Web Poetry Corner - Joyce Hemsley - Annual Event

Annual Event

by

Joyce Hemsley

He was dressed; he was groomed
And so eager to face
Another hot sunny day
Car windows were open
Ready to leave
The ignition key leading the way.

"Good day" to a neighbour
With a wave of his hand, as
He returned to close the front door
Friendship and help
He was longing to give
On this day he'd been waiting for.

Reversing the motor car into the lane
With certainly no time for delay
His two sons he transported
To their Secondary Modern
For the start of the annual
......Sports Day.......
