Paris is Burning
by
Josette Marie Louise Lager
Their's was a love story from
the very start, the day my father
won my mother's heart.The year
was 1941,a red cross dance or two
and daddy's high stepping shoes,
actually they were combat boots,
now there's a first,along with
a chocolate bar and a coke to
quench their thirst.
The occupation of Lyon the food
capitol of the world,my daddy was
so bashfull and boyish,he took care
of mother's family all through the
war,and a soldier's paycheck didn't
go very far, just enough to buy real
silk nylons with a seam in the back.
Was it love or gratitude, who could
say,so he slipped the ring upon her
finger, and said I do wed thee this
day.
