The Power Of Light And Darkness
by
John William McGrath III
Light and darkness, the substance of all matter
Without the dance of light and shadow
Where would beauty lie? Without a darker background
Could we see the atom fly? And would we see the
contrast, as we look on beauty's face?
Without light's glorious refraction, upon a darker hue
Tell me where the rose would be, or for that matter you?
O' wondrous eye, perceiving all this form, accepting all
this glory, to us it is the norm. Ah, sweet smell of evening Jasmine
on my olfactory sense, here too light and darkness,
From the blooming's wide dispense, particles of sheer delight
some how find my nose, then I am at heaven's gate, from my
head down to my toes. The shadow and the light, they play
a game of tag, which form will they free tonight? on sunset's
bright horizon? Red, purple green? Orange, yellow, pink and blue?
Can all this beauty be untrue? Just illusion's many tricks, from
stately trees to tiny sticks? No matter! If it justs resides in mind
As beauty's way it seeks it's kind! And I am on a higher loft,
Beholding dance of light and dark, reality or just a lark, I am richer for
the view, I'm SO thankful, that I see YOU!
