The Web Poetry Corner - John William McGrath III - Never Let One Get You Down

Never Let One Get You Down

by

John William McGrath III

The tree reaches up far and away...
With a trunk so sturdy no sign of decay,

Branches tipping into the sky....
Way up there on a moonlit high,

A loggerman's saw takes him down to the ground....
With flying dust and a crashing sound,

The tree's where he started, but coming back quick....
For his roots and his trunk are heavy andd thick,

A sprig on the trunk looks up at the moon....
And says to his friend, I'll be coming back soon!
