The Web Poetry Corner - John William McGrath III - My Music

My Music

by

John William McGrath III

Music! Where am I without it?
It is my balance in this world
Lacking, I would tumble from my mind
Spiral down till head sticks in the earth

Melodic tones lift me on crescendoed wings
Far above the azure blue on high
I know an airy lightness in my bones
I hear the cherubs lightly chant

I feel I am floating in a sea of roses
On an exquisite olfactory journey
Wind instument's waves bear me even higher
With rhythm classic, from the master's pipes

Then gently responding in ecstatic pleasure
I dive into the staccatic sound of bass
And find my place in every measure
Too soon the tone is ended, I am born anew
