The Web Poetry Corner - John William McGrath III - My Mind

My Mind

by

John William McGrath III

My mind what is it to be sure?
I think and create with it I know
When ill I usually know the cure
Do I take it where ever I am to go?

Does it preceed me in time and space?
Is it my soul possession or all of me?
Could it belong to the human race?
Or, without it would I be more free?

Perhaps without the mind I would know
Not just think as we do in this world
Awareness may be the better way to go
Without this brain, convoluted and curled

All that is... aware of itself, each of us a part
We were there... when it got it's start
The big bang... we made it go boom
This consciousness goes on forevermore...
And that's a lot of room!
