The Web Poetry Corner - John William McGrath III - Heaven Lost

Heaven Lost

by

John William McGrath III

It almost seems to me a brand new thread

When born to this earth I now am dead

What once was life I fear is gone from me

No vistage of the grace that made me free

Not only have I died but live in hell

No one believes me when I tell

My tale of ecstasy far beyond this grime

Of life and laughter from another time

I fear I may seek to end it all

For from the highest glory I did fall

And here I wander in dispair

Groan and moan and pull my hair

The wondrous things you say just cause me pain

I just have to get back there again

But should I take this life It may be worse

I may then be forced to relive this curse

Calm down my self! I must regroup somehow

Go within and make the past be now

Listen to the self I know I AM

Somehow merge with my eternal diagram
