The Web Poetry Corner - James Bredin - What About the UN
What About the UN
Has the UN lost its usefulness or what?
Credibility vanished with their special-interest lot,
They want peacekeepers to stop their distant genocide,
Where democracy is unknown and dictators abide.
They want public confidence back where it once was,
Not accountability but lots of public applause,
Regardless of whom they represent or if they’ve gone bad?
Has bureaucracy gone mad and can’t we say it’s sad.
An entity unto themselves that can never be changed,
Those who might point the finger are likely deranged,
Trouble for this venerable global institution,
No respect for left-wing leadership or their solution.
The UN wants to stick to its own status quo,
And no detractors saying there’s something they know,
Allegations of fraud and corruption in the night,
Was Saddam’s oil for food program really right?
