The Web Poetry Corner - James Bredin - Toronto-Calgary Exodus

Toronto-Calgary Exodus

by

James Bredin

Why are they leaving Toronto for Calgary now?
Are they tired of being stuck in Toronto’s gridlock somehow?
Where one accident can stop the city in its tracks,
And the refugees seem into demographic attack.

Could it be the politicians, the papers, the preachers or imams?
Could it be the homeless screaming for more social programs?
Could it be the lack of cashiers at the check-out place?
Could it be expensive parking spaces in your face?

Could it be the attitude of those who claim to know?
Could it be Calgary has jobs less taxes and more dough?
Therefore Calgary should get Toronto’s refugees,
Plus thousands of homeless types all using squeegees.
