The Web Poetry Corner - James Bredin - Maybe a Billion Refugees

Maybe a Billion Refugees

James Bredin

Stop the clocks they’re bringing more refugees here,
They’re out there now somewhere searching, so have no fear,
Being prisoners of our politicians is not so strange,
Or caught in their sticky status quo we can’t change.

With four wives and twenty children and their stuff,
Will a billion more refugees be enough?
Reminds me of early-morning TV religious cults,
And without referendums they never ever consult.

Without recall or term limits they’ll stay forever,
Lounge lizard Liberals with their refugee endeavor,
Excited in their left-wing political view,
About the UN, Kyoto and refugees on cue.

Want to attract attention to their agenda,
Pump out communist or socialist propaganda,
Appoint their friends to all the powerful high places,
Cover their asses, shred and delete all the traces.
