The Web Poetry Corner - James Bredin - Canadian Demonstration
They went to Parliament Hill for a demonstration,
‘Cause the government closed down their radio station,
They shouted "Liberte" and other special slogans,
‘Cause they wanted to hear their usual programs.
These programs were not politically correct,
Which a government bureaucrat could easily detect,
The Soviet style CRTC just closed them down,
Censorship called "Canadian values" abound.
It was their attitude that upset the bureaucrats,
They used foul language not used by aristocrats,
With that attitude they might want to change the regime,
And to an Ottawa bureaucrat that was extreme.
It was the usual Ottawa demonstration,
Just angry citizens showing their frustration,
At an isolated government hidden away,
Where Adscam politicians are not on display.
Because referendums and recall are never allowed,
Not for those ordinary common everyday crowd,
And radio stations should watch their propaganda,
Bureaucrats are listening and writing memoranda.
