The Web Poetry Corner - James Bredin - What's This Da Vinci Code

What's This Da Vinci Code

by

James Bredin

I envy those with the faith and no need to debate,
They know and believe, what they’ve been told is straight,
And why should I have doubts and continue to wonder?
Why can’t I just believe and knuckle under?

Was Mary Magdalene mistreated by history?
Will we ever find the basis of this mystery?
Was she there as portrayed at the Last Supper or not?
Was she painted by Da Vinci or have we forgot?

Was she the fallen woman of those long ago days?
Or the wife of Jesus that no one portrays?
How many accounts were written about those events?
Why only four gospels and no other segments?
