The Forthcoming Canadian Election 2004
A minority government or Liberal burnout?
How many Canadians will even turn out?
When he finally calls an election this year,
Paul’s choice - not ours - no set-election dates my dear.
And no referendums or recalls of politicians,
Who buy Challenger jets in crooked conditions,
They’ll talk about anything - anything at all,
But won’t fix Canada while they’re having a ball.
One keen kleptocrat is not good economics,
Making high court appointments while reading the comics,
Plunder the treasury by directing it to friends,
And watch them drive off in their Mercedes Benz.
Billions to Adscam, Haiti or that UN thing,
They’re brazen as brass on their wild spending fling,
Tax and spend more money and make sure we forget,
That six hundred billion dollar national debt.
Is there a slight chance that Ottawa might come down?
To where the people are overtaxed and wearing a frown,
Maybe minority government is a good thing,
‘Cause majorities have been on one spending fling.
