The Web Poetry Corner - James Bredin - National Dandelion Day

National Dandelion Day

by

James Bredin

We should have a national dandelion day soon,
To celebrate life, love and a certain little bloom,
Shocking bright yellow flower waving in the breeze,
Not spreading any strange chemical disease.

It grows on lawns where tiny little kids want to play,
They canít read little signs or know what they convey,
Signs left by the pesticide guy with numbers and names,
With a hidden meaning that could end all the games.

Fancy pants flowers just want to live and love now,
And avoid the pesticides and herbicides somehow,
Regardless of those pompous pesticide prates in court,
Arguing about a bylaw and who should support
