The Web Poetry Corner - James Bredin - Israel
Israel hits the news almost every day,
To the suicide bombers they seem so easy prey,
I don’t envy them over there trying to survive,
Building a wall to ensure they stay alive.
And the UN doesn’t like it one little bit,
Suicide bombers just can’t get a direct hit,
General Assembly voted that the wall should stop,
Sounds like they’d like the Israelis to get the chop.
I don’t have the answers in this awful story,
But a wall is not suicide and a lot less gory,
And the International Criminal Court at The Hague,
Seems to think it’s worse than a biblical plague.
They’re worried about what’s legal or illegal,
They like dictatorships and pretend they’re regal,
They want to make the laws for globalization,
As in their Earth Charter and UN specification.
And they do it all in the guise of human rights,
Forget African wars and ongoing tribal fights,
Forget democracy and the Saudis too,
And listen to the UN ‘cause what they say is true.
