The Web Poetry Corner - James Bredin - The United Nations
The United Nations
The UN is mentally ill and flying on one wing,
They’ve got real rogue and randy regimes there doing their thing,
Dozens of dictatorships with their delusional demands,
Democracy is a daydream in their autocratic commands.
They have a war every night while they holler ‘bout human rights,
And want money guns and peacekeepers to help them win their fights,
Soft-power background music, double foreign aid and go to sleep,
Politicians in pompous posture who then pretend to weep.
They claim the righteous high ground with propaganda in your face,
Terrorists and torturers you believe regardless of your race,
Shake their heads at what is said or disagree and act annoyed,
Their warlords nod their heads while they count the bodies they destroyed.
