The Web Poetry Corner - James Bredin - The Ordination of a Prime Minister
The Ordination of a Prime Minister
We’re going to have a new prime minister this November,
And your opinion means nothing in this decision - remember,
You make no contribution to these consequences - you can’t vote,
You’re a nobody, a number, out there, far away and remote.
And there’s nothing you can do about your lack of democracy,
They like it this way, cut off, while they exercise their autocracy,
And the new prime minister will be cocooned inside the party,
Remote in retched rhetoric like a far left communist smarty.
Appoint judges with no questions ‘bout sexual preferences,
To the Supreme Court dressed up like bishops with no references,
They will change all the laws according to their views of the Charter,
Same-sex marriages for some whether they’re a terrorist or martyr.
He rules by party fiat or order in council command,
No recall, referendums, set dates no matter how you demand,
They have a mandate that goes on forever without change or end,
No term limits as they travel the world while they tax and spend.
