The Web Poetry Corner - James Bredin - Genetically Altered Food

Genetically Altered Food

by

James Bredin

No labels on genetically altered food -- so there!
Though we’ve been eating it for years so no need to be scared?
Because they know what they are doing and never ask you,
That’s what they do in Ottawa and you never say boo.

Without referendums or recall, you’re out of the picture,
They decide what you’ll eat while you just sit and read scripture,
You can see them in the Commons if you watch them on TV,
Like a pantomime or an opera for just you and me.
