The Web Poetry Corner - James Bredin - Ben Laden

Ben Laden

by

James Bredin

Dear Osama youíve been in hiding far too long,
And I hear that your health may not be all that strong,
I hear your problems could be quite grave,
-- Four wives, twenty three kids hiding in a cave.

It could be damp in there with bugs, bats, rats, and mice,
Will you be on TV while they search your hair for lice?
I hear youíre still defiant in your hidey hole?
Will you, like Saddam, throw up your hands and roll?

Thatís okay Benny Boy_ thatís if youíre still alive,
Heard about your video tape, guess youíre not on side,
Can you make it to Canada and claim Charter Rights?
Thereís thousands like you on the incoming flights.

Our politicians refused to go to Iraq,
Went to Afghanistan with that UN pack,
With helicopters that sometimes fall out of the sky,
And these Liberal crusaders would never lie.

I hear you donít like democracy one little bit,
Youíd love it in Ottawa, youíre a perfect fit,
No referendums or recall - stuff like that,
Equalization instead of impeachment down pat.
