The Web Poetry Corner - James Bredin - The Double Canadian Curse
The Double Canadian Curse
As bad as Mulroney was, Chretien was worse,
Too bad Canada received such a double curse,
From the Conservative who stuffed us the GST,
To the Liberal on a conflict of interest spree.
They both applied for UN jobs in New York,
And lived like imperial champions of pork,
Completely dependent on the party parade,
Kept Canadians prisoners of their party charade.
They pushed their bilingual multicultural schemes,
Changed nothing in the system and had no dreams,
Appointed their friends as senators and judges,
Didnít even ask them if they had any grudges.
Both of them bilingual lawyers from Quebec,
And what should we expect when they stack their deck?
They liked their left wing socialist causes,
Built in cronyism with their Charter of clauses.
While Canadians were forbidden to choose their boss,
Was it too much to change the system or put across?
Or question the appointed judges about their grudges?
Why was it hidden in the Access Act under smudges?
