The Web Poetry Corner - James Bredin - Racial Profiling

Racial Profiling

James Bredin

The socialist statisticians have started to whistle and wail,
‘Bout many minorities over represented in jail,
They feel that this overrepresentation is a sure sign,
Of racial prejudice being practiced - a proper true crime.

The judges should give a sentence discount to minorities,
Regardless of the crime; to compensate for pushy authorities,
A get-out-of-jail card for those poor persons in distress,
They’re not at fault; it’s the system; it’s where they live -- their address.

Maybe half the sentence in a halfway house - somewhere they can score,
And early parole, maybe next week, to stop this revolving door,
Their statistics don’t lie; they’ve got evidence that something is wrong,
Never refer to Orientals ‘cause they’re the reverse of their swan song.
