The Web Poetry Corner - James Bredin - Premiers' Conferences
The premiers had another meeting last June,
And they promised they’d have another one soon,
They want to have a meeting every full moon,
Or the third Thursday of the month just at noon.
But no one has ever had anything to say,
Nothing in the papers then or even the next day,
And their nemesis Jean Chretien just won’t go away,
And without term limits he may decide to stay.
They want money from Ottawa for this and that,
But Jean and the feds where not there and wont go to bat,
They were sitting it out in Ottawa just getting fat,
Or traveling the globe to every commie contact.
The premiers’ photographs together and apart,
Though no one paid much attention right from the start,
Who cared if one premier spoke right from the heart?
About health care and problems - enough to fill a cart?
What the premiers should do is visit George Bush,
For a casual talk -- indeed nothing hush hush,
And then watch Ottawa turn around in a rush,
And be nice as pie and no more push push.
